Thank you to all those who came to visit us at Walk Farm for Open Farm Sunday - we really enjoyed seeing so many people and it was great to get so much positive feedback from you. The aim of the day is to provide an insight into what happens on a working farm and demonstrate the role of farmers in producing food and managing our beautiful countryside. At Lordswood Farms we are committed to developing a truly sustainable farming system, from which we can deliver high quality milk and beef. Inviting people onto the farm gives us a chance to explain how we go about this and answer any questions you may have. I hope that by creating a better understanding of how we manage our livestock and crops, we can enhance your confidence in our products. A visit to a farm is a really fun experience for children, many of whom have never ridden on a tractor and trailer ride before or seen a cow at close quarters. By giving them the opportunity to feed their senses we can nurture a really positive perspective of British agriculture and a different view of the countryside.
We would welcome any comments you have about this year's Farm Sunday event and any questions about the farm that may have arisen in the wake of your visit. If you enjoyed the day please tell your friends and put a note in your diaries for next year's event on Sunday 7th June 2009.
