About Us
Lordswood Farms Ltd was established in 1975 by one of Britain’s most prominent and innovative dairy farmers, Malcolm Pearce, whose passion for farming developed from a very young age.
In 1986, Lordswood acquired Walk Farm (420 acres), Witham Friary, Somerset, followed by Pinkers Farm (250 acres) in East Harptree, Somerset.
It was at the International Agricultural Show in Paris in 1988, that Malcolm was first introduced to the Montbeliarde breed of cattle. With their strong physical attributes and excellent milk composition, it was clear that this dual purpose breed was the answer to successful, profitable, and sustainable dairy farming in the UK. Over the subsequent 3 years, Lordswood Farms replaced the black and white herd with red and white Montbeliardes.
By 1997, Lordswood Farms Dairy was one of the largest dairies in the country, producing 17 million Litres milk, and processing a total of 65 million litres annually. Lordswood Farms Dairy Processing was later sold to Robert Wisemans Dairies in May 2001, after which time, the dedicated team at Lordswood were able to focus their skills to the breeding, development and research of the Montbeliarde breed in both a dairy and beef capacity. We have now established a truly sustainable farming system that ensures we continue to meet the demands of consumers, government policy makers, and farming lobby groups.
Lordswood Farms Ltd now has two Montbeliarde dairy herds with 650 head of cattle. The overall farm business extends over 1600 acres (650 Hectares).
